By the end of Friday, Jesus had been buried in a tomb that belonged to Joseph of Arimathea. The disciples were still in hiding, not sure whether or not the Jewish leaders were going to come after them next. The women who followed Jesus in that culture had a little more freedom because they were not seen as a threat the way the men were. So, they got up early Sunday morning to go take care of Jesus’ body.
